About Casselberry Tennis Coach Mateo
Hello my name is Mateo and I am a fun, local Casselberry tennis coach with over 16 years of playing experience and over 3 years of teaching experience! I am also a PTR Certified Tennis Professional. I began playing tennis at the age of six, and from the very beginning, the sport became a defining part of my life. By the time I was eleven years old, I had started competing regularly, which helped instill a strong sense of discipline, resilience, and competitive drive that has stayed with me ever since. Growing up in a very competitive tennis environment taught me how to handle pressure, set long-term goals, and continuously work to improve my tennis game out on the court-tennis lessons that now strongly influence my coaching philosophy.
Over the past three years, I have transitioned from being primarily a player to becoming a dedicated coach, working with athletes of all various ages and skill levels. I have been PTR certified for the past year, which has further strengthened all of my technical knowledge, teaching methodology, and ability to communicate concepts clearly and effectively. Coaching has allowed me to see the game from a new perspective, emphasizing player development and confidence building as well as fostering a real genuine love for the great game of tennis rather than focusing solely on results when on the court.
Currently, I serve as the Director of Adult Tennis at Red Bug Lake Park, where I lead adult programs while also coaching players of all ages. In this role, I am responsible not only for on-court instruction but also for program organization, player engagement, and creating a positive and motivating environment. I take pride in adapting my coaching style to meet the unique needs of each player, whether they are just beginners learning fundamentals or just experienced competitors who are just interested in refining their tennis skills.
Looking ahead to the future, I am very highly motivated to continue expanding my coaching abilities and deepening my understanding of player development. I am very committed to ongoing learning, self-reflection, and growth, with the goal of becoming the best coach I can be while positively impacting every player I work with! I teach tennis lessons right here in the Casselberry area and I do not travel.
