Hi my name is Colleen and I’m a local Colorado Springs tennis coach with over 50 years of playing experience and over 30 years teaching experience! I am a USPTA Elite Certified Tennis Professional, a Net Generation Coach & have a Positive Coaching Alliance Certification.
To become an Elite Professional, a USPTA member must be at least twenty-two years old, be able to pass the written Elite exam, which covers business, programming, sport science and tennis operations, Elite stroke analysis exam and the Elite-level on-court exams. Also, in addition, members must earn 16 specialty course and 24 APC credits. Elite Professionals are required to earn 6 credits every three years to maintain their membership. They are very commonly considered for both director of tennis positions/head tennis professional positions.
I come from a tennis family. My older brother was a D1 college tennis coach. Mom was a college coach at Santa Barbara City College and also played tennis at the same college she coached at when she was 64 making her the oldest player to play college tennis at 64 years old. My younger sister also played college tennis at the same college my Mom played at and as for me, I have been playing since I was 3 years old. My tennis team, Santa Barbara High School, won the 4A state title all four years I was there and I also won state in doubles.
I had a full tennis scholarship at UC Irvine and I also played on the Professional Satellite Circuit in Germany, Israel, Japan, Greece and France. More recently, I was coaching at the Kapalua Tennis Garden in Maui and running a tennis facility with my husband at the Hawaii Preparatory Academy on the Big Island of Hawaii. I’m currently still competing on some mixed and women’s teams locally in the area.
I offer private tennis lessons, semi-private tennis lessons, group tennis lessons and hitting only sessions for all ages (kids, teens, adults, seniors) and skill levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced). I’m teaching tennis lessons at Broadmoor Glen Park but I am also willing to travel up to 10 miles to a tennis court that is located by you.
Please contact me through my FindTennisLessons.com coach page and then I will contact you back within 24 hours to introduce myself, answer any questions and if you are interested, we’ll set-up your first tennis lesson or hitting session at a time and place that is convenient for you. I look forward to hearing from you and I look forward to the opportunity to be your Colorado Springs tennis coach on the court!
