Hello my name is Sofian & I am a fun, local Irvine tennis coach with over 21 years of playing experience and over 7 years of teaching experience! I played NCAA Division II college tennis at Concordia University Irvine, where I competed against some strong collegiate programs throughout all of Southern California. I’ve also competed internationally, have an official ITF player profile, and I also have experience traveling on the ITF circuit with competitive players.
Before coming to the United States, I spent time at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy over in France, an environment that helped shape the way I approach training and player development. Today, I’m still actively competing and also currently ranked #14 in USTA Southern California. Because I’m still training and competing myself, I really understand what players go through-not only technically, but also physically and mentally as well. Over my 7 years of coaching, I’ve worked with players of different ages and levels, from beginners picking up a racquet for the first time to competitive players looking to improve their tournament results. My tennis coaching is based on understanding the individual player. I focus heavily on fundamentals, technique, footwork, spacing, consistency, point construction and match strategy, but I also want players to understand why we are working on something so they can eventually make adjustments themselves. Most importantly, I want my players to enjoy being on court and feel that they are genuinely improving. Whether your goal is learning tennis, getting a great workout, competing in tournaments or taking your game to the next level, I’ll adapt the training to you and your goals. I teach tennis lessons in the Irvine area but I will also travel up to 15 miles to a tennis court that is conveniently near you!
