Hello my name is Luis and I am a fun, local Irvine tennis coach with over 15 years of playing experience and over 5 years of teaching experience! I’ve been playing tennis since I was about 5 years old and started to play competitively and more seriously when I was 8 years old. I have played through the USTA tournament system and played for my high school tennis team (University High School) at the varsity level starting my freshman year. We won a CIF open division championship my senior year of high school which was awesome!
I am now currently the captain of my college team at Irvine Valley College where I also go to school as a sophomore. More recently my college partner and I qualified for a 25K Pro Tournament in doubles in Calabasas, we played through the qualifier tournament which we won and got a wildcard for the main draw of the tournament. We lost in the first round to the #2 seeds who eventually ended up winning the tournament. As for my coaching experience, I started coaching when I was in high school where I started to coach at summer camps for ages 5-13. I also was hitting a lot with younger juniors where I wasn’t coaching as much but I was a hitting partner instead. As I got more experience, I started to teach older kids and even some adults. I teach tennis lessons in the Irvine area at the Irvine Valley College tennis courts but I will also travel up to 15 miles to a court near you!
