Hi my name is Rodger! I’m a fun, local Chula Vista tennis coach with over 50 years of playing experience and over 15 years of teaching experience. I am also a RSPA Elite Certified Tennis Professional. I am very excited to be teaching tennis here in Chula Vista after spending the last 3 years teaching at the Chandler Tennis Center in Chandler, AZ and to hopefully pass on my passion for the game and to inspire others to experience “the sport of a lifetime” which has brought me great pleasure, great joy and great friendships throughout my life.

My teaching philosophy is to keep it simple, keep it fun, and to be adaptable. As far as my coaching experience, I have formerly been a Head Tennis Coach at the Division 2 level (for both the men’s and women’s teams). I have run multiple summer camps and academy’s for children from ages 5-18 in Los Angeles, San Diego, as well as Acapulco, and Rosarito, Mexico. I have coached high school tennis teams, both boys and girls in San Diego and Salinas, CA. I was a middle and high school physical education teacher in San Diego and Salinas, CA. I ran a 6 clay court facility in Huntsville, Alabama and have given private, semi private, group and clinics to students of all ages and abilities. As far as my playing experience, I played Division 1. I have been rated as high as 5.5. I was highly ranked in my age group in San Diego (#1 in doubles, top 3 in singles in the 40’s, 50’s, and 55’s). I teach tennis in the Chula Vista area but I will also travel up to 10 miles to a tennis court that’s conveniently located near you!
