Hello my name is Samar and I am a fun, local Chandler tennis coach with over 6 years of playing experience and over 1 year of teaching experience! I am originally from New York and picked up my love for tennis through watching my favorite player Roger Federer of course. I came to Arizona when I was around 10 years old and began playing tennis once a week up until my freshman year of high school. I then played varsity for 4 years at Hamilton High School which at the time was the third best team in Arizona & I played in the state tournament for 3 of the 4 years. I know what it takes to become a resilient player and I am very adamant on guiding my students to success but not trying to alter the way the player wants to play. Moreover, I am very easy going and love to talk and create a relationship with all of my students that furthers their love for tennis. I will be attending ASU for college majoring in biomedical sciences but I will never lose love for this sport so I want to spread my knowledge to others so they can experience the same beauty that the game of tennis exposed me to!
My tennis teaching style will be geared towards the student I will be coaching, however there are standard measures that I would like to take every time. For example, a warmup and some cardio is a great way to begin the lesson. I always stress the importance of mini tennis as it hones in the fundamentals of the lesson ahead. If my student requires some assistance as to learning the fundamentals we will begin with some easy ball and footwork drills as well as some form work and slow analysis of the contact point of the ball. If the player is more advanced, I will first ask what they would like to work on based on their past week or experiences in general. I love to address the weak points of a game and drill those in through not only hitting but implementing scenarios into every practice. Serves are also a very important part of tennis which is often overlooked in the coaching scheme of things. I am also very keen on hitting with all my tennis students after drills to gauge whether what they have learned in the lesson is really effective or how I can improve the student’s game. I teach tennis lessons in the Chandler area but I will also travel up to 15 miles to a tennis court that is conveniently located close to you!
