Hi my name is Katie and I’m a local Universal City tennis coach with over 15 years of playing experience and over 6 years of teaching experience! I have been playing tennis since age 8 and competing competitively in USTA tennis since the age of 10. I went to Judson High School in Converse, TX and qualified for UIL state competition in 5A girls doubles. I was ranked 24th by the Tennis Recruiting Class of 2013 in Texas. I continued my tennis career at Tyler Junior College in the Fall semester of 2014. I was ranked 19th in the nation in singles and 13th in doubles by Junior/Community Colleges Women’s Region II Rankings in Spring 2014. In the Spring of 2016, I then transferred to Evansville University, a Division 1 school in Indiana where I majored in business. I started working at tennis camps at the age of 19 and I have worked at many tennis programs as well as tennis academies.
I have experience teaching beginners at elementary-middle school after school programs for beginners located at San Antonio All Boys Academy and Grave Hearts Academy. I also have experience with high level tennis academy’s as well such as John Newcombe Tennis Ranch where I taught junior & adult tennis programs from 2017-2019.
I’ve currently been working as one of the tennis coaches at Fit High-Performance Tennis Academy since summer 2017. I teach beginners, intermediate and advance players and all ages from 7-18 years old as well as adult players. My coaching style is creative and it’s functional. Every player is different so that’s why I believe it is very important to create a unique experience for their physical, mental and technical needs. I like to start the warm-up differently every time for the first 10 minutes. Whether its practicing hand eye coordination by tossing the ball to see how the player moves out on the court or a reaction drill to simply test the reaction of the player such as footwork/technique mechanics in the ground strokes. It all depends on the player level, and how their tennis game is. The goal is building a relationship with each player in order to teach them tennis and then have the players apply what they learn into their tennis game out on the tennis court.
I teach tennis lessons in the Universal City area at Samuel Clemens High School and Byron P. Steele II High School but will also travel up to 15 miles to a tennis court that is conveniently located close to you.
Please contact me through my FindTennisLessons.com coach page and then I will contact you back within 24 hours to introduce myself, answer any questions and if you are interested, we’ll set-up your first tennis lesson or hitting session at a time and place that is convenient for you. I look forward to hearing from you and I look forward to the opportunity to be your Universal City tennis coach. See you on court!
