Hello my name is Brandon and I am a fun, local Mobile tennis coach with over 17 years of playing experience! I play at a 5.5 USTA (United States Tennis Association) level and have over 11 years of teaching experience, including multiple tennis academies around Florida. I was certified as a RSPA Certified Tennis Professional 7 years ago and have taught tennis full-time since 2017. Growing up, I was trained full-time by a retired pro (Johnny Young) who was Top #1500 in the world and also competed in many tennis tournaments all around Florida.
I quit competing due to multiple health issues and began coaching full-time. I specialize in teaching competitive players, but 60% of my tennis students are beginners or students who are just getting into competitive play. I’ve successfully coached multiple students into making their high school varsity team, as well as moving at least a hundred players from a beginner level to a 3.0 level and then 3.0 to 3.5 and so on. The highest level I am accustomed to teaching is 5.0 USTA. My focus when teaching is mostly on stroke production with correct form and I generally split 1 hour lessons into 2 strokes which we plan after the warm-up. Longer lessons allow time for much more.
Unlike many tennis coaches, I generally will hit with you for many of the drills to train with a live ball when you’re ready. Lastly, for my competitive players, I will go over your match results week to week to find your weak areas to build skill and confidence where you’re lacking it most. This includes strategy, tactics and mental training. My personality is mostly relaxed and upbeat, but I am serious about my work and passionate to improve anyone who comes to me. I keep racquets on hand for adults/children in the case you don’t have any. I teach tennis lessons in the Mobile area (I will travel up to 35 miles)!
