About Mililani Tennis Coach Crescente

Hi my name is Crescente and I am a local Mililani tennis coach with over 20 years of playing experience and over 10 years of teaching experience! I grew up training in South America on red clay. I was a Chilean National Champion, I played on the South American Tour (COSAT) and reached the Top 13 on the continent. I was recruited to play Division 1 tennis at the College of Charleston where we made it to the Top 60 in the country as a team. Currently, I’m coaching junior players and several of them have won USTA (United States Tennis Association) Level 3s. Recently, I moved to O’ahu and I am eager to pass along my experience with tennis as a player & coach. I teach tennis lessons in the Mililani and Honolulu area but I will also travel up to 10 miles to a tennis court that is conveniently near you. Mahalo!

Tennis Tips In Mililani HI

  1. Arrive With One Focus

Before tennis lessons, choose one question or skill to focus on, such as making cleaner contact or recovering after a shot. A simple priority helps you use your attention well without expecting to fix everything at once. Share that focus with your tennis coach, then stay open to other useful observations that come up during practice.

  2. Pack For A Smooth Session

Set out your racket, water, towel, and any items you use to stay comfortable before leaving home. Check that your shoes feel secure and your racket grip is in good condition. A quick gear check keeps small distractions from taking over lesson time, so you can focus on movement, timing, and the task you came to practice.

  3. Warm Up With A Purpose

Give your body a gradual start before working on demanding shots. Begin with easy movement, then add gentle swings and controlled contact as you feel ready. Notice how your balance and timing respond rather than rushing to hit hard. In Mililani, a calm, deliberate start can help you settle into the session and pay attention from the first drill.

  4. Choose Goals You Can Measure

Make your goal specific enough to recognize, but small enough to work on today. Instead of aiming to play perfectly, count how often you recover to a balanced position after hitting. A clear measure gives you something useful to notice during tennis lessons and helps keep progress realistic, even when a new skill feels awkward at first.

  5. Ask Questions That Clarify

When an instruction feels unclear, ask what to watch, feel, or change on the next attempt. For example, ask whether your contact point should be farther in front. A focused question turns confusion into a practical cue. You can also ask your tennis instructor to explain how a movement connects to the shot you are trying to make.

  6. Keep A Brief Practice Note

After a lesson, write down one cue that made sense, one challenge, and one task to revisit. Keep the notes short so you will actually use them before your next practice. A few clear details can help you remember what you were working on, spot repeated patterns, and tell your coach what happened between sessions.

  7. Practice Between Lessons Wisely

Short, focused practice can help a lesson idea stick. Choose one task, such as shadowing a swing with balanced footwork, and repeat it with care rather than rushing through many drills. Stop when your attention fades or your form slips. In Mililani, plan practice around the time and space you can reliably set aside.

  8. Build A Reliable Contact Point

For a steadier groundstroke, pay attention to where the ball meets your strings. Give yourself room to swing by preparing early and adjusting your feet, then aim for contact in front of your body. Keep the goal simple: repeat a comfortable contact point before adding power. Ask your coach what cue best matches your swing.

  9. Stay Patient Through Changes

A new movement can feel less natural before it becomes more consistent. Expect some uneven attempts while you adjust, and judge the session by the quality of your attention, not only by the result of each shot. If frustration builds, pause, breathe, and return to one clear cue. Patience gives useful changes time to take hold.

  10. Track Progress Beyond Winners

Record more than points won when you review your practice. Notice whether you recover sooner, prepare earlier, or repeat a target with better control. These small signs can reveal improvement before match results change. Compare notes over several sessions, not just one day, and use the pattern to choose a sensible next focus for your tennis lessons.

Learning tennis is a process built from attention, repetition, and small adjustments. Use each lesson to find one useful idea, then give yourself time to practice it and notice what changes. Whether you are arranging your first session or returning to a familiar routine, tennis lessons in Mililani can be a practical next step. Keep showing up with curiosity, and book tennis lessons when you are ready to keep learning!
