About Steve

Hi my name is Steve and I am a local Honolulu tennis coach with over 30 years of playing experience and over 20 years teaching experience! I was a former nationally ranked player at West Texas A&M University. I trained at Team Fretz Tennis Academy with top ranked players like Dustin Hawk & Ignacio Ruiz. I took lessons & I trained with former #1 in the world doubles player Alex O’Brian.

I coached for & ran the Tascosa Tennis Center in Amarillo, Texas for 16 years in addition to helping with the Alex O’Brian foundation. My approach to teaching is to build a very strong and stable foundation with an emphasis on stroke structure, timing, coordination & building solid, reliable techniques. I enjoy the open nature of the sport, where each shot requires creativity and decision making skills to adapt both mentally and physically to unpredictable & ever changing situations.

I have helped dozens of players to play college tennis and helped many gain scholarships to D1 and D2 schools. While I have coached several top ranked juniors and adults, some of my proudest moments are seeing novice players become passionate about the sport as they develop the skills to play on their high school and club teams.

I am offering fun private tennis lessons, semi-private tennis lessons, group tennis lessons and hitting only sessions for all ages (kids, teens, adults, seniors) and for all skill levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced). So whether you need to work on some specifics like your forehand, backhand, volley, serve, service return, overhead, drop shot, approach shot, footwork, singles strategy or doubles strategy-I would be more than happy to help you out with your tennis game!

I teach tennis lessons in the Honolulu and surrounding area but I will also travel up to 20 miles to a tennis court conveniently close to you.
