About Andreu

Hello my name is Andreu and I am a local Sparkill tennis coach with over 19 years of playing experience! I have been coaching private and group lessons for over 5 years both in Spain and in the U.S. I have coached at some of the most competitive academies in the world. Two summers ago, I coached a group of elite teens that were from around the globe at Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy who were competing at ITF (International Tennis Federation) tournaments.

I have also been in charge of the Summer Tennis Camp at Tennis Academy Mallorca where I coached people from all ages and all levels. Currently, I am the assistant coach for the St. Thomas Aquinas College Team, a top 5 east region team. Since I have been trained and advised by top coaches like Jofre Porta, Carlos Moya (former # 1 in the world) and Rafa Nadal’s coach-I know all the drills, tips and tricks that made these players become successful. Please do not contact me if you are not serious about bringing your tennis to the next level! I am a very engaging and motivating coach and make my students give their 100% in each lesson. I believe, like everything in life, no real change happens unless you are out of your comfort zone. Improvements since the first tennis lesson is always guaranteed!

As a player, I have played several ITF professional tournaments back in Spain. My best ranking was #313 in the Spain open category back when I was 17 and top 15 in Spain from players born in 1996. As a college player, I have lead my tennis team as a captain to become Regionally Ranked in the East Region for the very first time in school history. I broke several school records: I am now the current leader in singles, doubles and combined wins, and also hold the single-season record in singles (17), doubles (16) and combined (33) wins. I was named to the ECC All-Conference First Team my senior year and Second Team my sophomore year. I have also been recognized as the MVP of the team for three years in a row. This last year, I was twice named East Coast Conference men’s tennis player of the week and recognized as Spartan Athlete of the Month for March for my school after going 12-0. Moreover, after the season I was awarded as the Male Scholar-Athelete of the year for the East Coast Conference.

As your Sparkill tennis coach, I am available to teach tennis lessons at the St. Thomas Aquinas College Tennis Courts, Old Tappan High School Tennis Courts, Independence Park and I will also travel up to 10 miles to a tennis court that is conveniently located close to you.

Please contact me through my coach page and then I will contact you back within 24 hours to introduce myself, answer any questions and if you are interested, we’ll set-up your first tennis lesson or hitting session at a time and place that is convenient for you. I look forward to hearing from you and I look forward to the opportunity to be your Sparkill tennis coach. See you on the court!

"Andreu is a terrific coach! He is very young-but since the first minute, I realized how much knowledge he has about the game and how great he understands what are the best teaching mechanisms. He has a different approach than some of the other American coaches I have been coached by. Instead of just feeding balls with his racket from half-court, he made the lesson more engaging by me feeding balls with his hand, which made me increase my intensity. He gave me some tips for my struggling serve about ball tossing and the path that the racket has to follow. I have noticed big improvements in my power as well as my 2nd serve consistency since the first lesson!"
