About Derek

Hello my name is Derek and I am a fun, local Lumberton tennis coach with over 13 years of playing experience and over 5 years of teaching experience! I am also a PTR Certified Tennis Professional. I started playing competitive tennis my sophomore year of high school and fell in love with the sport. I played two years at a community college and afterwards, I got into teaching tennis. I was the head tennis pro at a yacht club down the shore for the summer. I coached a JV boys private school tennis team, then started teaching full time at a tennis club in Princeton, NJ for 3 years. In 2022, I moved to Austin, Texas and taught for a year over there. I’m now back in New Jersey and looking to teach tennis part-time on the side (I’m no longer full-time).

I am offering fun private tennis lessons, semi-private tennis lessons, group tennis lessons and hitting only sessions for all ages (kids, teens, adults, seniors) and for all skill levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced). So whether you need to work on some specifics like your forehand, backhand, volley, serve, service return, overhead, drop shot, approach shot, footwork, singles strategy or doubles strategy-I would be more than happy to help you out with your tennis game!

I teach tennis lessons in the Lumberton, Moorestown and Cherry Hill area but I will also travel up to 30 miles to a tennis court close to you.
