Hello my name is Jim and I am a local Lansdale tennis coach with over 32 years of playing experience and over 26 years of teaching experience! I am ready to get you kick-started on the tennis court with FUN, Fire and “Flavor”! Whether it’s as a high school coach (7 years), college coach (20 years) or club pro, I bring an unparalleled level of enthusiasm, positivity and FUN out onto the tennis courts!
As a 20 year former Director of Physical Education/Health at a local high school and a standout tri-sport athlete (tennis, hockey, soccer), I often coach tennis with a multi-dimensional approach incorporating footwork, recovery, strategic and anticipatory skills. The success is evident with the Gwynedd Mercy University team that needed to be completely overhauled & then immediately re-wrote the conference record books, became perennial conference champions and went to the conference finals 15 times as well as to the prestigious National NCAA tournament 12 times. I also coached 2 USTA (United States Tennis Association) women’s teams (Simply Smashing & Young at Heart) to sectionals, missing nationals by 1 point! In addition, I taught private, semi-private and group lessons for all ages and skill levels for 2 major clubs in the Philadelphia region for well over 13 years.
I’m offering these high-quality sessions outdoors to those interested in ratcheting up their ALL COURT game and also for those who want to become more competitive during match play. During my lessons, increased consistency with the variety of groundstrokes, serves and aggressive net play will be emphasized along with some specialty shots such as drop shots, specific lobs and low and behold….the oh-so underrated half-volley! In addition, I will help you strategize with shot selection and placement in singles and (especially) doubles. I teach fun tennis lessons in the Lansdale area but I am also willing to travel up to 10 miles to a tennis court that is conveniently near you!
