About Kamar
Hello my name is Kamar and I am a local La Jolla tennis coach with over 11 years of playing experience and over 5 years of teaching experience! I began playing tennis at the age of 9 in Egypt. As a member of the national team, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to various countries to compete including Malaysia, Qatar, Lebanon, Vietnam, Jordan, UAE, Iraq, and England. Tennis eventually led me to the United States when I was 14 years old, where I joined Advantage Tennis Academy in Irvine. Throughout my time there, I played #1 varsity singles at my high school (University High in Irvine) while also competing in USTA (United States Tennis Association) tournaments. Going into my senior year of high school, I had a 9.6 UTR (Ultimate Tennis Rating) and eventually received a scholarship to compete in the PacWest Conference while attending college.
Throughout high school and college, I taught kids ages 5-18 how to play tennis, most of which were beginners. I also had the privilege to coach tennis to children on the autism spectrum, which is within my professional field as a registered behavioral therapist. In addition, I also did hitting lessons with individuals with a much wider age range.
In my 11 years of playing competitive tennis, I’ve acquired numerous skills and techniques, thanks to the invaluable guidance provided by my previous tennis coaches. In tennis, there are two key aspects that I prioritize and continuously strive to excel in: consistency & strategic play. These elements have really become fundamental pillars in my personal journey with the game. By emphasizing consistent & smart playing, I aim to maintain a steady level of performance and to make calculated decisions on the tennis court, which then enables me to maximize my potential and outsmart my opponent. This is especially important when coaching beginners, as it allows me to foster their development by keeping a rally going. By emphasizing consistency and smart play, I can help them build their skills/confidence in tennis.
I am offering fun private tennis lessons, semi-private tennis lessons, group tennis lessons and hitting only sessions for all ages (kids, teens, adults, seniors) and for all skill levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced). So whether you need to work on some specifics like your forehand, backhand, volley, serve, service return, overhead, drop shot, approach shot, footwork, singles strategy or doubles strategy-I would be more than happy to help you out with your tennis game!
I teach tennis lessons in the La Jolla area but I am also willing to travel up to 5 miles to a tennis court conveniently located near you.
