Hello my name is Yago and I am a fun, local Anaheim tennis coach with over 11 years of playing experience and over 3 years of teaching experience! I am originally from Madrid, Spain and I am currently studying in the United States while continuing to pursue my passion for tennis both on & off the court. From June 2022 to August 2024, I worked as the Tennis and Soccer Coordinator at Camp Tapawingo, where I developed valuable experience as both a player and also a coach. As the head of the tennis department, I was responsible for overseeing daily operations, including maintaining clay and hard tennis courts to ensure optimal playing conditions and managing the inventory of all equipment and lesson materials. I coordinated and scheduled tennis and soccer lessons, creating structured programs that balanced skill development with enjoyment for campers of all levels. I also organized singles and doubles tournaments, as well as events with other camps, which really strengthened my ability to plan, communicate, and lead in different dynamic environments. In addition to coaching, I prepared individual progress reports for each student and provided feedback to fellow staff members to support continuous improvement. My role extended beyond the court, as I assisted with many administrative tasks and helped organize larger camp events, contributing to the overall success of the program.
This experience allowed me to grow as a leader and mentor while deepening my understanding of the game, as I worked to create a positive, disciplined, and engaging environment where players could develop their skills, build confidence, and to foster a lasting love for tennis. I teach tennis lessons in the Anaheim area but I will also travel up to 15 miles to a tennis court that is conveniently located near you!
